Dear Dr. Colon:
Orange County Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (OC-NAPNAP) supports our national childhood literacy special interest group whose mission statement is to promote literacy of children and adolescents, which developmentally and culturally supports language acquisition, love of reading, and the ability to use a written language. I am a charter member of this special interest group and our chapter is passionate about increasing literacy. We ask our members to bring a new or gently used book to each educational meeting and have distributed these books to a variety of childhood organizations.
OC-NAPNAP presented a one-day obesity conference in conjunction with the San Diego NAPNAP chapter last spring. The proceeds from this conference resulted in a discretionary fund. OC-NAPNAP understands the financial strain placed on literacy programs nationwide and appreciates your efforts to continue the Reach Out and Read Program at CHOC Children’s Hospital.
Please accept this check of $259.34 for the CHOC Children’s Reach Out and Read Program. OC-NAPNAP is proud to be associated with this program and wishes you continued success.
