Exciting Locum Opportunity: Cardiothoracic Surgery PA/NP in Scenic Flagstaff, AZ!

Location: Flagstaff, AZ

Position Type: Locum Tenens

Pay Rate: $135.00 $145.00 HR (paid weekly and eligible for health benefits)

Duration: September-January, 10 days per month

Shift: Flexible; includes 4 days per month from 7 AM to 3 PM, plus on-call from 3 PM to 7 AM

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a locum tenens position in Flagstaff, AZ. This role offers flexibility with shifts and requires one day for orientation.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to the cardiothoracic surgeon
• Manage 10-15 CVICU/step down patients per day
• Perform 1-2 surgeries per day
• Handle special procedures including temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, and A-line placement

• Support Staff: Surgeon and other medical professionals

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in cardiothoracic surgery with proficiency in endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH)
• Education:
• For PA: Graduate from a university program approved by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• For NP: Master’s degree in nursing; Graduate from an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program; Completion of an RN/NP First Assistant Program
• Certification:
• PA: Certified or certification eligible by the NCCPA
• NP: Medical-Surgical or NP certification from ANCC or AANP
• Licensure:
• PA: Eligible for licensing as a Physician Assistant in Arizona
• NP: Current unrestricted Arizona APRN license
• Certifications Required: ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association)
• DEA: Required
